LUFC McCormack delighted to get 90 minutes

Leeds United striker Ross McCormack was delighted to complete 90 minutes for Leeds in the win at Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

It was McCormack`s first start since chipping a bone in his ankle in the opening minutes of the game against Cardiff City back in September.

He returned to the squad in November and he made his first appearance as a substitute in the game at Millwall.

McCormack also made a late substitutes appearance against Crystal Palace the following week but he played no part in the game with Leicester City in midweek.

Last season`s leading goalscorer wasn`t expected to return until around the busy festive period but he says he has been working hard to return to full fitness.

Speaking on the official website , McCormack said, "I`ve been working hard with the physios and the fitness coaches and played 90 minutes on Saturday, which even surprised me a little bit to be honest."

McCormack got his chance to start with El Hadji Diouf having a slight groin strain and the Scottish international lasted the 90 minutes despite a lack of match fitness after three months out. "I felt fine, after maybe about 60 minutes I thought the legs were getting a bit stiff and the gaffer asked me if I was OK and if I wanted to come off.

"I was enjoying the game and as the game went on I thought that I got stronger

"Overall I am really pleased with the 90 minutes," continued McCormack.

He played his part in Leeds 4-2 win at Huddersfield Town on Saturday. He was a constant threat with his pace in attack and he teed up Luciano Becchio for the second Leeds goal.

His delivery from a dead ball situation was also something Leeds have been missing since he suffered his injury.

His performance will certainly give Leeds boss Neil Warnock to think about ahead of the game with Derby County on Saturday with Diouf expected to be fully fit again.
