LUFC Warnock - Season starts on Saturday

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says the season starts on Saturday against Crystal Palace after the future of the club was sorted out this week.

GFH Capital have been in negotiations with Leeds chairman Ken Bates since the summer but they finally put pen to paper on the deal to take over the club.

Warnock has been frustrated in the transfer market since the summer and despite the side slipping down the championship table after a run of seven games without a win, Warnock feels it is too early to write off the season just yet.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, "This season cannot be written off. We have got to hang in there and give it our best shot, the season starts this weekend."

Leeds have slipped to eighteen in the championship following their poor run of form but they remain just eight points behind the play-off places.

The current leaders Crystal Palace, who visit Elland Road this weekend and have shown already this season that a club can put a run together and quickly move up the table.

Palace lost their opening three games of this season but they have now gone fourteen games unbeaten, winning eleven, to go top of the championship.

Last season Reading went on a tremendous run to clinch the championship title.

Reading were in the bottom half of the table at this stage of last season before winning twenty of their remaining twenty-nine games.

Warnock is still desperate to clinch one more promotion before finally retiring from the game.

He currently as seven promotions to his name along with Graham Taylor and Dave Bassett and they jointly hold the record for the most promotions in the Football League.

The Leeds boss has made no secret of his desire to win one last promotion to be the outright leader and also lead Leeds back to the Premier League for the first time since 2004.
