LUFC Warnock blow in search for loan striker

Neil Warnock`s hopes of signing Stoke City striker Cameron Jerome on loan have been hit after Stoke boss Tony Pulis blocked a move because of injuries at the Britannia Stadium.

Warnock was desperate to add to his attacking options as the club slide down the championship and having failed to conclude a deal to bring in Jerome before the game with Watford last Saturday, the Leeds boss was hoping to finalise the deal this week.

Stoke boss Pulis is refusing to allow the move with striker Michael Owen still struggling with an hamstring injury and fellow striker Jonathan Walters having to withdraw from the Republic of Ireland squad this week due to a knee injury.

Warnock must now switch his attention and he will be desperate to add to his squad before the trip to Millwall at the weekend with Jason Pearce and Michael Brown both out through suspension and midfielder Rodolph Austin ruled out until the New Year with a chipped anklebone.

Striker Ross McCormack returned to full training last week after missing the last thirteen games with an ankle injury and despite Warnock not wanting to rush back the striker, he may have to rethink his plans to reintroduce the striker gradually.

Leeds have now gone five games without a win and have scored just five goals in the process.

Leading goalscorer Luciano Becchio is struggling for form despite netting ten times already this season.

Becchio hasn`t scored in open play since the game with Nottingham Forest in September and he was an unused substitute in the defeat to Watford at the weekend.
