LUFC Warnock not confident with Pearce appeal

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says the club will appeal against the red card shown to defender Jason Pearce on Saturday although he is not confident it will be overturned.

Pearce was shown a straight red card for a tackle on Watford striker Matej Vydra and Warnock feels the assistants had too much influence on referee Trevor Kettle with the decision. "I don`t think it was the right decision. I think both linesmen thought it was a sending off but the referee is a lot nearer and there is so much can happen with your view in 50 yards," Warnock told Yorkshire Radio.

Warnock felt that it was a genuine attempt by the Leeds central defender to win the ball and he felt the decision changed the game, a game that Leeds eventually lost 6-1 having been just 1-0 down at the time of the incident.

The Leeds boss continued, "His foot hasn`t come off the floor and he has genuinely gone for the ball and I was disappointed.

"I thought it was a very poor decision and it changed the game."

Pearce will serve a three-match suspension starting with the game at Millwall on Sunday if Leeds are unsuccessful with their appeal this week and Warnock admits, even though they are appealing the decision he isn`t confident the decision will be overturned by the Football Association. "We will be appealing against it but I don`t hold out much hope if I am being honest," added Warnock.

If Leeds lose their appeal then Pearce will join Michael Brown on the sidelines through suspension on Sunday.

Brown picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in injury time on Saturday and he will now serve a one-match suspension.

no 5hit he's not confident - league wouldn't back Leeds if opposition had admitted diving - and this guy didn't dive .. they'll quietly put Kettle on a few L2 games and brush it under carpet

No chance of getting red card overturned. NW is just going through the motions.
