LUFC American businessman to make Leeds move

The Sunday Times are reporting that multi-millionaire American businessman Preston Haskell IV is ready to make a move for Leeds United with the exclusivity period for GFH Capital due to run out in the next week.

The exclusivity period given to GFH Capital is due to finish on November 17th and despite the Bahraini investors saying the deal is close to completion, it looks like Haskell is ready to make Leeds chairman Ken Bates a cash offer.

Haskell states that he is ready to hand Leeds boss Neil Warnock £10 million to invest in the squad as he wants to see Leeds return to their past glories in the top flight of English football.

Duncan Castles who is a freelance sports journalist for The Sunday Times is reporting that Haskell is worth £250 million having made his money in Russian real estate and in mining in North Asia and Africa.

He is also involved in restaurants and he has his own vineyard in South Africa

Haskell is the son of Peter Haskell III the founder of The Haskell Company, who are a privately owned construction company, reported to be amongst the biggest in America.

The American businessman was present at Elland Road alongside Ken Bates earlier this season and there has long been links with a possible American investment since the summer.
