LUFC Warnock will not rush McCormack back

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says striker Ross McCormack will not be rushed back after missing the past two months through injury.

McCormack returned to full training this week after recovering from a chipped bone in his ankle and Warnock says he is still quite a way off a return to first team action.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, "You forget that he hasn`t played since September, so I don`t want to push him straight back in before he has got up to date with his fitness.

"We need to be a little bit careful although it would be nice to have him available.

"First and foremost, we have to get him to a fitness level where we can give him twenty minutes or half hour coming off the bench, we can then think about playing him. We are a way off that at the moment."

Last season`s leading goalscorer will be desperate to return to the side having missed the last twelve games, having netted twice in the opening six games of the season.
