LUFC Hall to step up fitness

LUFC Hall to step up fitness

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says loan signing Ryan Hall will be stepping up his training this week.

Hall finally made his debut for Leeds in the game with Birmingham, coming off the bench for the final eight minutes but Warnock says the winger on loan from Southend is nowhere near match fitness having been frozen out by Southend since the opening month of the season.

Hall is ineligible for the cup game with Southampton in midweek having already played in the competition for Southend and Warnock says he will play for the development squad in their game on Monday as well as working hard with Chris Short, the first team fitness coach.

Speaking on LUTV, Warnock said, "He is having a good weeks training this week. He is playing for the development side on Monday because he cannot play on Tuesday and he is going to be working with Chris Short all week.

"He is a long way behind us fitness wise so we have got to try and get him up to date with the other lads and then he can get his opportunity."

Hall`s appearance as a late substitute in the Birmingham game was his first involvement since coming on as a substitute for the final twenty-five minutes for Southend in their game at Oxford on August 21st.

The winger had started the clubs first two games of the season but a fall out with manager Paul Sturrock saw him frozen out at Roots Hall and training alone.

Warnock will be hoping that Hall can quickly get up to speed with the rest of the squad and produce the form for Leeds that saw him score 14 times last season and be the leading player in the Football League for assists with 25.
