Leeds United chairman Ken Bates says he hasn`t heard anything from GFH Capital in the past two weeks, the company who are wanting to takeover at Elland Road.
GFH have signed an exclusive agreement with Leeds and announced themselves almost four weeks ago that they expected the deal to go through in the near future but Bates says he hasn`t heard from the company in two weeks.
Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Bates said, "It is now over two weeks since we had a big conference call to resolve outstanding matters and since then the other side have been silent.
"The latest report is GFH might not invest in Leeds or might not be able to invest in Leeds because of a Sharia law, meaning you can`t smoke, can`t drink, can`t gamble and can`t do anything else but hang on, it hasn`t affected the Abu Dhabi`s purchase of Manchester City or the Kuwaiti`s purchase of Nottingham Forest.
"The ball is in their court, I am waiting to hear from them."
The news is the latest in the saga that first started in May.
Leeds first broke the news after much speculation regarding a possible investment on May 29th, when the club said they were in talks regarding an investment to secure the long-term future of the club.
It was almost a month (June 26th) before the club released their next statement stating that they had entered an exclusivity period with the investor and they would now be allowed to carry out the appropriate due diligence into the club.
At the time, they stated that they thought this would be a straight forward affair.
There was nothing more from the club until August 9th when they announced that the exclusive period for the investors had now come to an end although they were still in discussions.
Leeds United chairman Ken Bates then broke his own personal silence on the investment when the club issued a further statement credited to Bates on August 18th.
What Bates did say was little to do with the takeover but he wished that the media and the fans would stop spreading rumours, but after three months of very little what did he expect.
Leeds fans then had to wait over a month before any further news broke on the progression of the deal when Bates spoke before the game with Nottingham Forest (September 22nd).
GFH Capital then announced on September 27th that they had signed an exclusive agreement with Leeds regarding the takeover of the club.
It is now October 23rd and we seem no closer to the takeover.
