LUFC Warnock Embarrassed After Kirkland Incident

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock said he was embarrassed to be the Leeds manager after a supporter came onto the pitch and struck Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Chris Kirlkland.

The incident happened following Leeds equalising goal at Hillsborough. The supporter encroached onto the playing surface and struck Kirkland in the face, leaving the goalkeeper needing treatment.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, an embarrassed and angry Warnock said, "I feel embarrassed to be a manager today after seeing that. It is an absolute disgrace. I think they should get the guy, prosecute him, and put him in prison. There is no place at all for it.

"I have not enjoyed the game, when I see a moron like that come onto the field. I am not proud to be the Leeds manager when I see things like that.

"To see things like that on the field of play, there is absolutely no place for it and I am embarrassed."

The incident overshadowed what had been a pulsating Yorkshire derby.

Wednesday had taken the lead in the game shortly before half time through Jay Bothroyd.

Michael Tonge equalised for Leeds with a strike from the edge of the penalty area but sadly, nobody will be talking about the football that happened on the pitch on Friday night.

Leeds United were quick to issue a statement condemning the actions of the so called supporter.

Please look back at previous articles, I am sure I have mentioned it and condoned it. And surely it does get a mention in this article as well or is Neil Warnock not also lamenting the actions of this idiot.

Im a Wednesday fan and I know many may think Im on here with a biased opinion but lets look at this with a bit of logic. "FOOTBALL ?? RIVALRY ??" Ill be honest I couldnt give a damn about either after what happened last night cos quite franckly what we are actually talking about is a moron (Im not even gonna call him a Leeds Fan in respect to all the Leeds fans who may feel tarnished by the same brush) who assaulted another human being, again the fact that hes one of our players is besides the point. He attacked another person from his blind side which in the eye of the law is nothing less than assault, and what makes me feel viley sick is some of your fans again not the majority, a sad minority patted him on the back and acknowleged him doing so. This thug should be arrested and put away for a long time. I mean this with full sincerity I actually feel sorry for a majority of the Leeds fans who are good honest decent people who go to match after match to enjoy football and now have had your name dragged back through the dirt because of scum like him a very sad night after a cracking game of football.
