'If It's Football, It's Vital'

LUFC Idiot spoils Yorkshire derby

Michael Tonge earned Leeds a point in the Yorkshire derby at Sheffield Wednesday but the game will be overshadowed by an idiot who ran on the pitch and struck Owls goalkeeper Chris Kirkland.

The incident happened following the equalising goal by Leeds. The fan ran onto the pitch and pushed Kirkland in the face, leaving Kirkland needing treatment.

It is sure to see Leeds United facing action from the Football League and the club quickly made a statement after the game condemning the person (I cannot call him a fan or supporter).

The incident came at a time with the match perfectly poised at 1-1with just under fifteen minutes remaining.

On the pitch, Jay Bothroyd had given Sheffield Wednesday a first half lead close to half time and looked set to for a first win since the opening month of the season.

Tonge equalised for Leeds with a well struck shot from the edge of the area but few will remember the highlights of the game due to an idiot who encroached onto the playing surface and decided to put Leeds United back 20 years.

Made me feel embarrassed to be a Leeds supporter last night. What a total cock this lad had been, I wasn't there last night but was listening on the radio as I was working nights. The aftermath he has left behind is shocking & he probably thinks its funny. Although it sounds like both sets of supporters were going for it at times, this guy doing what he did has put the microscope on the supporters throughout the game. We have Dave Jones having a pop at NW, NW having a pop at Kirkland, both sets of supporters blaming each other, supporters blaming police & stuwards. Through the night we have had radio host having a pop, the back pages have been reprinted and all because of some tw&t who shouldn't have been at the game anyway as he has banning orders to his name before last nights game. God knows what it look like to the people who are supposed to be buying us. Dave Jones cranked up the issue by banging on about the chants and citing our bad behaviour even though it sounds like both sets of fans were at it. To be honest It wouldn't bother me one jot if he got a good kicking everyday for the rest of his life, I certainly would be the first in the que!

I totally agree with Tricky. Very sad day and one I feel very ashamed about.
