Leeds United midfielder Rodolph Austin played the final thirteen minutes for Jamaica in their 2-1 loss to Guatemala in their crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier.
The midfielder has been struggling all week to prove his fitness for Jamaica after picking up an ankle injury for Leeds in their 1-0 win over Barnsley last weekend.
Austin was only able to take part in the technical part of training in their final training session on Thursday before training on his own as he tried to prove his fitness for the game.
Jamaica went into the game level on seven points with both Guatemala and USA at the top of the group with just two games remaining.
Austin was not risked from the start and came on with the score level at 1-1. Guatemala won the game with five minutes remaining when Carlos Ruiz scored from a corner.
The late defeat for Jamaica was compounded when USA scored an injury time winner in their game at Antigua and Barbuda.
USA won 2-1 and they are now level on ten points with Guatemala at the top of the group with one game remaining.
USA meet Guatemala in Kansas on Tuesday in their final game whilst Jamaica host Antigua and Barbuda.
Jamaica need to win and hope there is a winner in the USA and Guatemala game to stand any chance of qualifying for next year`s final qualifying group, with the top two sides going through.
The group could come down to goal difference with USA and Guatemala currently both on +3 whilst Jamaica are on level.
Leeds will be hoping Austin returns to Elland Road unscathed with the Yorkshire derby at Sheffield Wednesday less than 72 hours after their game with Antigua.
Austin is unlikely to return to Leeds until less than 24 hours before the game at Sheffield Wednesday with a long haul flight of around 10 hours ahead of him from the Caribbean.
