LUFC GFH hoping to buy Leeds in next three weeks

GFH Capital Chief Executive David Haigh says he hopes the deal to buy Leeds United will be sorted in the next three weeks.

The long drawn out takeover finally looks to be reaching a conclusion and Haigh, the man being tipped to be the next Leeds United chairman says they are almost there. Speaking in the Sun Newspaper, Haigh said, "Like any big acquisition we have to be thorough and that`s the process we`re going through right now. We`re almost there and, hopefully, within three weeks it could be done.

"We are working incredibly hard to get the deal done but there are procedures and rules which must be followed."

Haigh was present once again at the Leeds game against Barnsley last weekend alongside current chairman Ken Bates.

He saw Leeds climb into seventh place in the championship, with a 1-0 win over their Yorkshire neighbours Barnsley. Haigh says they are going to back Neil Warnock in the transfer market as the Leeds boss looks to lead Leeds back into the Premier League for the first time in nine years, a promotion that would make him the most successful Football League manager with eight promotions.

Warnock has been desperate to strengthen his squad in recent months but he has been unable too due to financial constraints. Haigh says that money will be available but the will not get carried away. "We will put finance and resources into the club. We are a Middle Eastern bank and we do things sensibly," added Haigh.
