LUFC Fresh contract talks with Diouf to commence

The agent of Leeds United player El Hadji Diouf, Willie McKay says he is meeting Leeds boss Neil Warnock to talk about a new deal for the player according to Skysports.com.

Diouf initially signed for Leeds on the eve of the new season on a non-contract basis and he made his debut in the Capital One League Cup tie against Shrewsbury Town as a second half substitute.

He extended the deal until January later in the month and McKay says he is now ready to start talks over a longer term deal for his player with interest coming in from other clubs.

Speaking to Skysports.com, McKay said, 'I am meeting Neil Warnock to discuss a new deal for El Hadji as his current contract expires in January.

'I believe El Hadji has shown he is the best player in the Championship and the interest in him has been amazing.

'I have been contacted by two Premier League clubs who have asked about his situation in January.

'I know El Hadji wants to stay at Leeds and as he loves it there and wants to help them get promotion.'

Diouf is quickly turning into a fans favourite at Elland Road and he captained the club in the 2-2 draw at Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday night.

The 31 year old indicated last week that he is now close to full fitness after missing pre-season due to his release from Doncaster Rovers at the end of last season.

The former Senegal international and twice African footballer of the year has played in all 12 of Leeds games so far this season and he netted his second and third goals of the season in the weekend win over Bristol City.
