LUFC Leeds v Barnsley - Over the years

Vital Leeds looks at the head-to-head record between Leeds and Barnsley at Elland Road ahead of the Championship clash on Saturday.

The two sides have met on 27 previous occasions with Leeds winning 13, Barnsley 6 and 8 draws.

The first ever clash between the two came during the 1920/21 season when they battled out a 0-0 draw.

The following season, Leeds enjoyed their first win with a 4-0 victory.

Barnsley had to wait until their sixth visit to Elland Road before enjoying their first win when they won 1-0 in the 1931/32 season.

Leeds last win came during the 2000/01 season when they won an FA Cup third round clash 1-0 thanks to a goal from Mark Viduka.

The two sides have met in the last two seasons. The game in the 2010/11 season finished 3-3. Max Gradel netted twice and Luciano Becchio one, but they had to settle for a point when Trippier scored late on for Barnsley.

Last season, Barnsley won for the first time since the 1989/90 season when first half goals from Ricardo Vaz Te and Craig Davies secured a 2-1 win for the visitors. Ross McCormack scored from a free kick early in the second half but Leeds could not find an equaliser.
