Leeds United boss Neil Warnock is confident that El Hadji Diouf will remain with Leeds when his current deal expires in January.
Diouf signed for Leeds in August on a short-term deal following his release from Doncaster Rovers at the end of last season.
The former African footballer of the year played a pivotal part in Leeds cup success over Everton on Tuesday and having missed most of pre-season, he is now looking fully fit.
The 31 year old has been offered lucrative deals in the Middle East but Warnock is confident that he will remain at Leeds when his deal runs out in the New Year.
Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Warnock said, "Dioufy will not go anywhere else, he`s promised me certain things and I`m happy with that.
"He`s obviously not doing it for money, he`s one of the lowest-paid players at the club. He`s not going to get a stage like this again is he? He`s a matador and you need something like that.
"It`s no good going to Saudi Arabia or Dubai or wherever he was going for six or seven times the wages. He`s better off with me, isn`t he? He`s given me his word, if that`s worth it. He`s been straight up with me and I`ve been straight up with him."
Many were surprised when Diouf joined Warnock at Leeds in August after the pair had a very public spat in January 2010.
The pair fell out after Warnock accused Diouf of abusing Queens Park Rangers player Jamie Mackie, who was lying on the pitch with a broken leg.
The incident led to Warnock labelling Diouf a 'sewer rat. `
Diouf hit back at Warnock by calling him a 'big s**t.`
All that now seems to be water under the bridge as Diouf starts to play an important role in Leeds season.
The experienced Diouf has played in all ten of Leeds games so far this season and Warnock says that his experience and know how is rubbing off on some of the youngsters in the side.
Warnock will be hoping Diouf can keep his and Leeds recent good form up when they travel to Bristol City and Bolton Wanderers in the next week.
