LUFC Warnock looking for three points

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says his side will not be travelling to Cardiff City today looking for a draw.

Cardiff have been amongst the nearly men in recent seasons having been involved in the end of season play offs in the last three seasons.

Manager Malky Mackay has added to his squad this summer, bringing in the likes Nicky Maynard, a target of Leeds this summer, as well as a Craig Bellamy, Matthew Connolly, Heidar Helguson, Craig Noone and Tommy Smith.

Cardiff have picked up seven points from their opening four games, the same as Leeds and brushed aside Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1 at home in their last game, with Peter Whittingham scoring a hat-trick.

Whittingham signed a new deal with Cardiff in the summer despite the interest of a number of Premier League clubs.

With all this in mind, many would go to Cardiff this season happy to come away with a point but Warnock says he is going their looking to come away with the three points. Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Warnock said, "I don`t think we`ve got any players who would play for a draw. I don`t see lads like Jason Pearce, Tom Lees and so on knowing how to play for a point.

"I`ve never done that in my career. I`ve never gone into a game not trying to win it."

Warnock will be looking to achieve what no Leeds boss since Eddie Gray last did in 1984, when he came away from Ninian Park with three points.

A solitary George McCluskey goal was enough for Leeds that day, one of only three wins in twenty-three visits to South Wales.

Leeds have failed to win on their last seven visits, including their two visits to Cardiff`s new stadium.

When the sides met on the penultimate weekend of last season, Luciano Becchio secured a point for Leeds after Joe Mason had given the home side a first half lead.
