LUFC Warnock - Tonge will fit in well

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says new loan signing Michael Tonge will fit in well after signing the midfielder on loan for three months.

Tonge has worked previously with Warnock at Sheffield United, having come through the clubs academy system and playing under the boss for seven years at Bramall Lane.

Warnock feels the 29 year old will fit in well at Elland Road and he is not worried about the player`s lack of first team football in recent seasons. Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, "He hasn`t been involved in the first team but he has had two or three under 21 games, which are tough games, so he is not bad on fitness.

"He is a naturally fit lad. He knows how I play, I don`t have to explain things to him and I think he will fit in well."

Tonge has struggled to break into the Stoke side since signing for the club in 2008 from Sheffield United. He has made just 18 appearances in his four seasons at the Britannia Stadium and he has spent most of his time out on loan.

He has had two loan spells at Preston North End as well as Derby County and Barnsley.

Last season he made just ten appearances whilst on loan at Barnsley, after signing for them on loan at the end of January for the remainder of the season.

Tonge has trained with the squad ahead of the trip to Cardiff City this weekend.
