LUFC Warnock delighted to sort out Diouf deal

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock was delighted to sign El Hadji Diouf on a short-term deal.

Leeds have been in talks with the former Senegal international since he joined the club on a non-contract basis on the eve of the opening game of the season against Shrewsbury Town in the League Cup.

Warnock has admitted this week that he was not sure whether Diouf would remain with the club and he was delighted to get Diouf put pen to paper following the game with Blackburn Rovers today. Speaking on the official website, Warnock said, "I`m delighted we have been able to get it done. I think everyone has seen why we want Dioufy here, and what he brings to the squad.

"He is a quality player, he has plenty of experience, and he`s good in and around the dressing room."

Diouf played a key part in Leeds comeback against one of his former clubs earlier in the afternoon. Leeds trailed 2-0 close to half time when Diouf poked home his first goal for the club in his sixth appearance. The goal inspired Leeds into a second half fight back that saw them lead 3-2 thanks to goals from Ross McCormack and Luciano Becchio with less than ten minutes remaining.

Leeds were denied a win that would have taken them into the international break level on points with Blackpool at the top when Ruben Rochina back-heeled an equaliser for Rovers with six minutes remaining.

Diouf almost won the game for Leeds in the dying seconds of injury time when he lifted his shot over the bar with just former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson to beat.
