Leeds chairman Ken Bates celebrated his birthday a day early when a goal from defender Matthew Kilgallon 17 minutes from time took his side into third spot in the Championship.

Bates, who would love to lead Leeds back to the Premiership, saw his side complete four successive League wins for the first time in four seasons to underline just how serious their run is.
