LUFC Warnock - Byram playing with no fear

LUFC Warnock - Byram playing with no fear

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says Sam Byram is playing with no fear after making a huge impression in the first few weeks of the season.

The 18 year old has enjoyed a meteoric rise into the first team this season after impressing in pre-season.

Byram has featured in all five of Leeds games so far this season, starting in four of them and he scored his first senior goal for Leeds in the midweek win over Oxford United.

The goal against Oxford would have been repeatedly shown on Sky had one of the mercenaries in the Premier League done it. After beating two players, he audaciously beat the Oxford keeper with a delicate chip. Warnock believes it is the lads age and the fact they play with no fear at that age that has seen him impressing so far this season.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, "He is improving; he has still got a lot to learn. Young lads do things off the cuff because they have no fear. We just have to keep him on the right level and progress."

Byram only signed his first professional contract with Leeds at the end of last season after coming through the clubs academy system and his early season form saw him quickly rewarded with a new three-year deal.

He has also shown his versatility in the side having played at both right back and on the right side of midfield so far this season.

Byram was dropped to the bench last weekend in the win over Peterborough, after starting the first three games but he will be hoping his performance in midweek will earn him a start when big spending Blackburn Rovers visit Elland Road on Saturday.
