LUFC Warnock - The attitude was spot on

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says the attitude of the players was spot on after the side booked their place in the third round of the Capital One League Cup with a 3-0 win over Oxford.

Warnock decided on making a number of changes, with six new faces in the starting line up to the one that started the game at Peterborough at the weekend.

The Leeds boss decided to give some of the squad players a chance with James Ashdown, Patrick Kisnorbo, Michael Brown and Andy Gray all making their first starts of the season.

Sam Byram and Aidy White also returned to the starting line-up after being amongst the substitutes on Saturday.

Warnock was impressed with the attitude of all the players on and off the pitch. Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, "The attitude of the players that came in was absolutely spot on.

"I thought tonight was good for team spirit. I thought the way the lads on the bench reacted to the quality they saw on the pitch was great.

"I thought we were spot on, the lads really worked hard."

Leeds progressed to the third round thanks to first goals for the club by Rodolph Austin and Sam Byram as well as a second goal of the season for defender Tom Lees.

Austin opened the scoring on 26 minutes with a strike from the edge of the area before youngster Sam Byram continued his excellent start to the season with a sublime finish for Leeds second on 34 minutes.

Lees clinched the game for Leeds on 74 minutes as Leeds gave the League Two pacesetters Oxford little opportunity of causing a cup upset.
