Leeds start life back in the top flight for the first time since 1982, with a 3-2 win at Everton.
First half goals from Imre Varadi, Gary Speed and Chris Fairclough give Leeds the perfect start. The first half display by Everton sees their goalkeeper Neville Southall remain on the pitch at half time, sitting against a post. Everton claw it back to 3-2 in the second half but they cannot deny Leeds an opening day win.
Eric Cantona is the first player to score a hat trick in the newly formed Premier League. Lee Chapman and Rod Wallace are also on target as Leeds beat Tottenham Hotspur 5-0 at Elland Road.
Leeds drop their first points of the season with a 0-0 draw at West Ham in their third game.
Leeds continue to claw back the 15-point penalty with a 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest. Tresor Kandol and a last minute winner from Jermaine Beckford make it nine points from a possible nine and Leeds are now down to -6 points.
Robert Snodgrass is twice on target as Leeds beat Watford 2-1 in the League Cup at Elland Road.
Snodgrass looked like he was sending Leeds into the third round with his opener until Marvin Sordell equalised with just a few minutes remaining for Watford. Snodgrass scored the winner in extra time to set up a third round clash with Liverpool at Elland Road.
