Leeds United striker Ross McCormack says he can continue to get into the Scotland squad if he remains at Leeds and keeps scoring goals.
McCormack returned to the Scotland squad on Wednesday, for the first time in fifteen months against Australia and he marked his return with a superb solo goal within ten minutes of coming off the substitute`s bench.
The striker was in great form for Leeds last season when he netted 19 goals to finish amongst the leading goalscorers in the championship having had a frustrating first season at Elland Road.
The 25 year old made 49 appearances for Leeds last season and he is looking to continue where he left off last season at Leeds to enhance his Scotland chances. Speaking in the Scotsman, McCormack said "I`ve said from day one, for me it`s about playing.
"I played last year, the two seasons before that I didn`t really play. It`s about continuity and I firmly believe that if I stay at Leeds and keep doing what I can do, I can keep getting in these squads and keep doing well."
McCormack is still in contract talks with Leeds after turning down the initial offer made to him earlier this summer.
He looked to be on his way out of the club, with a whole host of clubs from the Premiership and Championship keen to sign him.
With Warnock already losing McCormack`s Scotland teammate Robert Snodgrass this summer he is keen to keep him main attacking threat.
McCormack scored last weekend for Leeds in their opening game of the season when defeating Shrewsbury Town in the League Cup.
He celebrated his goal by doing a mock celebration of signing a new contract.
The striker as just twelve months remaining on his current deal and Warnock will be desperate to extend his contract before the transfer window closes at the end of August.
