LUFC Leeds seeded in League Cup draw

Leeds United will be amongst the seeded clubs when the draw for the Second Round of the Capital One League Cup is drawn on Wednesday.

Leeds needed one of the six teams who finished above them in the championship last season, who were playing on Tuesday night to lose, to move Leeds into one of the 25 clubs to be seeded.

Last season`s finalists Cardiff City and fellow championship side Brighton and Hove Albion and Derby County were on the end of cup shocks to move Leeds into the seeded positions.

Cardiff lost 2-1 at League Two side Northampton Town and Brighton were comprehensively beaten 3-0 at Paul Di Canio`s League One side Swindon Town.

Derby were involved in a classic cup tie at Pride Park against Scunthorpe United throwing away a 3-0 first half lead. They also led 5-3 in injury time only to concede twice. Scunthorpe eventually going through 7-6 on penalties.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Liverpool will all enter the competition in the third round as those involved in European competitions receive a bye in the second round.

The draw will take place on Sky Sports News on Wednesday lunchtime at approximately 12.30pm.
