LUFC Norris - It was an honour to wear armband

Leeds United midfielder David Norris said it was a privilege and an honour to wear the captain`s armband in Leeds first competitive game of the season.

Norris captained the side on his home debut in Leeds 4-0 League Cup win over Shrewsbury Town at Elland Road on Saturday. "I found out just before the game. The manager handed me the armband and it is a privilege and an honour to be the captain at a massive club like Leeds," Norris told LUTV.

The 31 year old only signed from Portsmouth two weeks ago and he feels he is settling in quite well in his new surroundings.

Norris probably felt at home quite quickly with Jason Pearce, Luke Varney and Jamie Ashdown all arriving at Leeds this summer from Portsmouth. "I feel I have settled in quite well and the lads have been brilliant.

"It helps having lads around me who I was quite close to during my time at Portsmouth," continued Norris.

His home debut was capped off with Leeds third goal in the win over Shrewsbury. There was also a goal for fellow debutant Luke Varney as Leeds overcame a shaky start to run out easy winners.

Warnock is yet to name his captain for the new season and he has given the armband to a different player in every game so far since the start of pre-season.
