Leeds cruise through in the first round of the Carling Cup at Chester City. Jermaine Beckford scores a hat trick and there are also first goals for the club from Robert Snodgrass and Andy Robinson as Leeds score five times in the first thirty-five minutes to secure a 5-2 win.

Simon Grayson was quick to dispel any theories made by fans and the media about Jermaine Beckford`s absence from Leeds Carling Cup win at Darlington.

Beckford missed out after suffering a knee injury in the win over Exeter City at the weekend but people were quickly putting two and two together and making five, feeling that the star striker was about to move away from Leeds and a new club didn`t want him cup tied.

Speaking on Radio Leeds, Grayson said, 'Contrary to speculation he wasn't getting cup-tied or anything like that - he is injured.
'He isn't going anywhere - he'll be here at the end of the season.'

Leeds duo Jermaine Beckford and Mike Doyle are both named in the Football League team of the week for their performances in the win over Exeter City on the opening day of the season.

Leeds have been handed a home clash against fellow championship side Leicester City in the second round of the Carling Cup.
