LUFC Leeds to listen to potential new investors

Leeds United have announced that they are now ready to listen to new offers for the club after stating that the period of exclusivity has ended.

The club initially revealed on May 29th that they were in talks with a potential investor into the club.

On June 26th they revealed that a period of exclusivity had been granted to a prospective investor whilst due diligence was carried out, something they said would be fairly straightforward at the time.

After an almost deafening silence since, the Leeds United Supporters Trust (LUST) revealed yesterday that the deal had now collapsed with the investors, rumoured to be from the Middle East.

Leeds have now released a statement saying that the deal is not dead but the just the period of exclusivity had ended and they are willing to listen to offers from other possible investors.

In a statement on the official website, it said:

Leeds United ('The Club') announces that the exclusivity period granted to a potential investor as mentioned in the statement of 26 June has ended.

The Club remain happy to continue discussions, but not on an exclusive basis, so as not to prevent other options passing.

The first priority must be to ensure that the credibility of any future investor or ultimate owner is such, that the Leeds legacy and its future is in safe hands, back in the Premiership.

The Club will continue to be receptive to approaches from potential new partners who can establish that they have the necessary credentials.

The big question now on every Leeds fans lips is, just where it goes from here after ten weeks of what amounts to very little.
