LUFC Warnock - I have no strength in depth

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says he does not have much depth to his squad with just over a week to go before the start of the season.

Warnock feels that he has a good starting eleven but he has no strength in depth and is hoping that the side stay injury free.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio after the game at Burton on Tuesday night, Warnock said, "If you look at the squad that is about it. We will have to be lucky with injuries. I think we have a decent eleven but I think we may need to rely on quite a few of the youngsters."

Leeds finished their pre-season unbeaten after a 1-0 in at Burton thanks to a first half Luke Varney goal.

Warnock is now preparing his side for the start of the season on Saturday when the side start with a League Cup tie with Shrewsbury Town at Elland Road. The Leeds boss says he would normally rest first team players in the early round of the competition but with the championship season kicking off seven days later against Wolverhampton Wanderers, he is going to put out a strong side. "There is something at stake, which is better because I would usually play a weakened team. I don`t normally want anything the week before the season and I wouldn`t dream of playing the first team, but this weekend we will play our strongest team," added Warnock.

Warnock will be hoping to move on some of the transfer-listed players this week to make funds available to add to his squad.

Paul Rachubka, Paul Connolly, Ramon Nunez and Billy Paynter still remain at the club despite being placed on the transfer list at the end of last season.
