LUFC Leeds finish pre-season with another win

Leeds finished off their pre-season campaign with a 1-0 win at Burton Albion thanks to a Luke Varney goal.

Lee Peltier and Rodolph Austin both started the game to make their debuts in Leeds colours and Patrick Kisnorbo got another quarter of the game under his belt.

Peltier almost scored on his debut with a firm header but it wasn`t long before Varney scored the only goal of the game close to the half hour.

Varney got on the end of a ball over the top to beat Lyness from inside the area.

Ross McCormack, Jason Pearce and Sam Byram all went close to doubling the lead for Leeds whilst goalkeeper Paddy Kenny had to be alert on a couple of occasions as Leeds finished pre-season with six wins and a draw from their seven games.

Leeds now get down to the real business, with a League Cup first round clash with Shrewsbury Town at Elland Road on Saturday.

Leeds:
Kenny (Ashdown 67), Peltier (Kisnorbo 67), Lees, Pearce (Byram 67), White (Drury 67), Green, Austin (Pugh 72), Norris, Varney (Rogers 80), Becchio (Gray 67), McCormack (Brown 67).
