LUFC Pearce on target in Leeds draw

LUFC Pearce on target in Leeds draw

Leeds 100% start to pre-season came to an end with a 1-1 draw in Norway against Sandefjord.

The game marked the first appearance in a Leeds shirt for David Norris who signed last week from Portsmouth.

Trialist Martin Cranie once again started in defence as he looks to earn a contract at Elland Road.

Sandefjord are currently halfway through their season in the Norwegian league but it was Leeds who started the game well. Adam Drury and Luke Varney both going close for Leeds.

Leeds went ahead on Seventeen minutes when Jason Pearce headed home his first goal for the club from a Ross McCormack corner.

Leeds continued to press in the first half and Varney, Norris and Andy Gray all had chances to extend Leeds lead.

Sandefjord equalised early in the second half when Kristian Klepaker beat Jamie Ashdown in the Leeds goal.

The home side came closest to winning the game when Ashdown made a good save to deny Martin Torp.

Substitutes Zac Thompson and Dominic Poleon both had late chances for Leeds but couldn`t find a way past Iven Austbo in the Sandefjord goal.

Leeds now return to England and prepare for a game at League One side Preston North End on Saturday as they continue their build up to the new season.

Team:
Ashdown, Lees (Byram 68), Cranie, Pearce, Drury (Pugh 46), White (Rogers 79), Norris (N Turner 81), Green (Thompson 79), Varney, Gray (Brown 46), McCormack (Poleon 68).
