LUFC Pearce - I like what I am seeing

Leeds United summer signing Jason Pearce says he likes what he is seeing happen at the club ahead of the new season.

Pearce was Leeds boss Neil Warnock`s first signing of the summer, with Warnock promising major surgery to the squad this summer.

Leeds then missed out on Pearce`s former Portsmouth teammate Joel Ward, as Leeds went six weeks without making another signing.

The players started to arrive towards the end of June and Pearce has been joined at Elland Road by a further eight players since and the young defender says things are now coming together. Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Pearce said, "He told me when I joined that there`d be big changes here. It`s taken a bit of time but we`ve got plenty of new players in, a few going out and it doesn`t sound like the manager`s finished yet. You can feel things building up and I like what I`m seeing."

Pearce will be feeling at home, with a number of the new signings. Jamie Ashdown, Luke Varney and David Norris all following him from Portsmouth.

Paddy Kenny has signed for Neil Warnock for a fourth time, experienced defender Adam Drury has arrived from Norwich, Paul Green and Rodolph Austin have bolstered the midfield and Andy Gray has returned to the club to give Warnock options in attack.

So far, three players have left the club with goalkeeper Andy Lonergan, along with midfielders Adam Clayton and Robert Snodgrass leaving the club.

Leeds still have five players at the club who were placed on the transfer list at the end of last season.

Defender Andy O`Brien is reported as being in talks with a club and striker Billy Paynter is having a trial at Blackpool.

Ramon Nunez as played his part in pre-season with the first team but he hasn`t travelled with the squad for their friendly in Norway this evening.

Paul Rachubka and Paul Connolly have both featured for the development squad managed by Neil Redfearn, with both playing in the games with TNS and Bridlington Town since Saturday.
