LUFC Archie Gibson 30/12/1933 - 24/07/2012
Former Leeds United right half Archie Gibson died on July 24th aged 78 after suffering with Alzheimers.
He spent nine years at Leeds between 1951and 1960, making 174 appearances for the club.
Gibson made his debut for Leeds on 2nd March 1955 at St Andrews against Birmingham City.
He helped Leeds to promotion to Division One in the 1955/56 season, when he was a regular in the side making 27 appearances as they finished runner-up to Sheffield Wednesday.
In Leeds first season in the top flight, he was once again a regular, playing in 40 of Leeds 42 league games.
During his time at Leeds, he played alongside the likes of John Charles, Jack Charlton and Don Revie.
Gibson`s final appearance for Leeds came at Elland Road in April 1960 in a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
In his 174 appearances for Leeds, he scored 5 goals.
After leaving Leeds, he spent four years with Scunthorpe United, making 138 appearances.
