LUFC Warnock - Austin is an excellent signing

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says the signing of Rodolph Austin is an excellent signing after the midfielder agreed a deal to bring him to Elland Road.

Warnock has finally landed a player who he had on trial during his time at Queens Park Rangers. The Leeds boss says he was priced out a move to take him to Loftus Road from Norwegian side SK Brann but now thinks he has a great deal at a fraction of that price.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, "I have tried to sign him a couple of times but couldn`t really afford him.

"They wanted £2 million last time I wanted him and we liked him a lot but we didn`t think he was worth that sort of money and now we have agreed a fee for a tenth of that, so it is an excellent signing.

"He is not a player who catches the eye but he is one of those players who is always the first on the manager`s team sheet."

Leeds are now waiting for a work permit for the experienced Jamaican international who has made 45 appearances for his country.

The 27 year olds form for his country saw him named the most valuable player at the Caribbean cup in 2010 as Jamaica defended the title they won in 2008.

Warnock does not expect the work permit to arrive in time for him to play any part in Leeds three game tour of Devon and Cornwall.
