Norwegian side SK Brann have confirmed that the club and Leeds United have agreed a deal that will bring Jamaican international Rodolph Austin to Elland Road.
Brann's sporting director Rolf Magne Walstad speaking on the clubs official website stated, 'We agreed with Leeds on the conditions for a transfer on Sunday night.
'There has been the calculation for us where we had to measure Rudy's value and the financial side of such a transfer, and we also believe that the player deserves the chance to move to Leeds now."
News broke earlier this month that Leeds were keen to take the defensive midfielder to Elland Road.
Austin expressed his own desire to join Leeds last week when he spoke to Norwegian TV after their 6-2 win over Odd Grenland, 'I am 27 years now, and I think the timing is right. It is between the clubs. If I can go to Leeds, that is something I would like."
Brann were reported as turning down Leeds initial offer for the player, who sees his contract run out in December. Austin has spent the last four seasons at Brann and Walstad says the club now believe the player deserves the opportunity of a move. 'Negotiations have been slow, partly because the distance between what Leeds would pay for the player and what Brann wanted to get was great, and partly because we had the desire to keep Rudy at Brann for as long as possible.
'Rudy has given a wonderful effort for Brann for several seasons and we think it is right that he should have this opportunity now.
'Since this interest became known it was clear that he wanted to continue his career in England if the clubs agreed a transfer,' added Walstad.
Brann were hopeful of hanging on to the player until the end of this month when the transfer window opens but after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season on Sunday against Aalesund, Austin will be suspended for their next game.
It is believed that Austin is now in negotiations with Leeds and undergoing a medical. Leeds will also need to obtain a work permit for Austin.
