LUFC Leeds United transfer rumours - Week 11
Vital Leeds United is keeping fans up to date with all the latest transfer rumours over the summer with Neil Warnock looking to build a squad capable of mounting a promotion challenge next season.
Finally, the worst kept secret at Elland Road happened this week. Having been linked with Leeds all summer, Paddy Kenny signs a three-year deal at Elland Road.
After a quiet start to the week with no new players being linked, the end of the week sees some new names thrown into the ring.
Leeds returned for pre-season training and amongst those at Thorp Arch are two trialists. Former player Andy Gray is back along with versatile defender Martin Crainie who is out of contract at Coventry City.
One name that gets everyone talking is Rodolph Austin. Unknown to the vast majority of Leeds fans, the Jamaican international is on manager Neil Warnock`s wish list. Austin plays his football with SK Brann in Norway and he was voted the player of the year last season. Warnock had him on trial at Queens Park Rangers during his time there and it is reported that Leeds have made a bid in the region of £250,000 for Austin who can play in midfield or at the heart of the defence.
Reports coming out of Norway suggest he will join at the beginning of next month when the Norwegian transfer market opens.
The last one of the week came in this morning`s papers with Brighton and Hove Albion striker Craig Mackail-Smith being linked with a £3 million move to Leeds according to the Daily Mail.
This sort of deal will obviously rest on the successful takeover of the club, as Bates has not spent £3 million since he arrived in total.
The takeover continues to rumble on. Another week and still nothing from the club. The media caught up with the article on Vital Leeds last Sunday and Bahraini Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa is now firmly touted as the man to take over the club.
Of those players already linked with moves in and out of Elland Road. It looks like Portsmouth forward Luke Varney is closing in on a move to Leeds and Leicester defender Lee Peltier is still being strongly linked with a move to LS11.
With the arrival of Paddy Kenny, Andy Lonergan looks like he could be on his way shortly. Bolton Wanderers are still leading the chase with their boss Owen Coyle admitting his interest. Ipswich Town are also reportedly interested in Lonergan.
Leeds boss Neil Warnock confirms the club have had a number of clubs show an interest in striker Ross McCormack and Wolverhampton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers are the latest clubs linked with a move for last season`s top scorer.
Luke Chambers will not be joining from Nottingham Forest. The defender signed a three-year deal with Ipswich Town on Monday.
Another player not joining is Crystal Palace midfielder Darren Ambrose who was linked with Leeds in the first week of the summer. Ambrose signed for fellow championship side Birmingham City on Friday.
If you read of any player links in or out of Elland Road then let us know on Vital Leeds.
