LUFC Leeds in for Jamaican international

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says he is looking at SK Brann midfielder Rodolph Austin.

The 27 year old is out of contract with the Norwegian Premier League side in December and Warnock is keen on the player who he had on trial at Queens Park Rangers during his time there.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Warnock said, "He`s a player I had at QPR. I had him over for a week and he`s a smashing lad.

"I`ve always liked him, but it`s always been a bit too much money. The last time I spoke to them, it was around the £2m mark.

"But his contract runs out in December and he`s one that we are looking at as well as several others."

SK Brann are wanting between £200,000 - £300,000 for the player who was named the Norwegian Premier League player of the season last year, with Leeds being reported as having a bid already rejected.

He was also named the most valuable player at the Caribbean cup in 2010 as Jamaica won the trophy on penalties, with Austin scoring the first goal in the shoot-out.

Austin is an experienced international midfielder with Jamaica, having made almost 50 international appearances and he played in their world cup qualifier against Antigua in June.

The midfielder came close to a move to England in 2008 with Stoke City but he failed to obtain a work permit and eventually signed for Brann where he has spent the last five seasons.

Sound's like he could be a good buy and quite cheap as well fingers crossed for Mr utility to sign for us ...

He sounds good, but so have so many other foreign signings none of us seem to know nothing about.

Get him signed from the few clips I have seen on Youtube (getting ready to be mocked). I know youtube doesn't show you everything but he does look big and powerful and that is something we desperately need. Norwegian player of the season, so how can we get him for around £300,000?

So you dont think the fact that he hasnt been able to get a work permit could have anything to do with the price then ... Dream on..!!!
80s terrier
that was at the time when he had not met the required international games played now he has so we could just get him....
fleckstar
80's Terrier, he couldn't get a work permit four years ago when he was hardly playing for Jamaica. Now he is a regular in the Jamaican side.
