LUFC On this day July 12th - Chelsea at it again

A look back at what happened on this day in recent history at Leeds United.

2007

Chelsea pinch another Leeds youngster. A year after stealing Tom Taiwo and Martin Woods. This time Ben Gordon goes where the grass is supposedly greener.
All three of them are now doing exactly……………

2009
Leeds start their pre-season programme with their regular trip to York City. The game finishes 3-3.

York took an early lead before Luciano Becchio equalised for Leeds. Second half goals from youngsters Mike Whitwell and Andrew Milne put Leeds 3-1 ahead. York scored twice in injury time to earn a draw.

2010
Richard Naylor is to continue as club captain for the 2010/11 season. Leeds boss Simon Grayson confirms that the experienced central defender will lead Leeds in their first season back in the championship.

I wouldn't have a clue what any of those lads were doing now. I think Taiwo is playing in lower league, I think Woods as retired and I have never heard of Gordon. This will happen more and more as well as Premier League clubs can now pick and choose who they want to take from clubs who have produced, taught and trained the talent of these youngsters.

Ben Gordon is still playing in the CFC reserve squad due to age & experience but still has a bright future, at a premier league team, also the current FA Cup holders, and Champions League winners... Where exactly are Leeds these days? Blue Square or still trying to get there? A bitter article gets a bitter response, imagine that.

Imagine where clubs outside the Premier League could be if Premiership clubs brought through their own players. How many of your successful youth team come through to the first team?
dazza71
Dazza is that you getting a bit feisty lol but then again this lampardrogba guy what the hell is his problem yes CFC might be Champions League winners at long last but then again it took CFC long enough to win it though lol And maybe if youth development was contained to the clubs that brought them through and clause's put in so they could only be bought after they turn say 20 or something then it would put an end to all this type of rubbish happening then wouldn't it
