LUFC Lees - Teams will want to prove a point

Leeds United defender Tom Lees says the club have a tough start to the championship season with a number of their opponents having a point to prove in the early weeks of the season.

Leeds face relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers on the opening day and they also face another relegated side in Blackburn in the opening month of the season.

Blackpool and Cardiff City, whom both lost out in last season`s play-offs are also early season opponents for Leeds and Lees thinks they will all have a point to prove following last season`s disappointments.

'It looks a really exciting and tough start," Lees told the official website . "But they will be good games, especially that first week. We'll see where are up to against some good teams.

'Wolves have just come down, Blackpool had the disappointment of the play-off final and I'm sure both teams will have a sense of disappointment and a point to prove.

'They'll want to get over that as soon as possible. Then we have a tough game down at Peterborough and have games against Blackburn and Cardiff in there.'

Lees signed a new and improved deal at Elland Road in May after impressing in his breakthrough season last season.

The 21 year old signed a new four-year deal after making 45 appearances last season.

The defender only signed a new deal with the club last September and it is his third new deal at Elland Road in the past 18 months.
