LUFC Warnock excited by tough start

LUFC Warnock excited by tough start

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock is looking forward to a tough start to the 2012/13 season after the fixtures were released this morning.

Leeds start the season against relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers at Elland Road and that is followed by a midweek trip to Blackpool who missed out on an instant return to the Premier League last season when they lost the Play-Off Final to West Ham United.

Warnock is excited by the start to the season, although tough and he will be looking to put down a marker to the rest of the championship with a decent start.

Speaking on the official website, Warnock said, 'It's a great fixture to start with. You can't really have a better game than that to start off with.
We start with Wolves at home then Blackpool away and you couldn't have two much tougher games than that. Peterborough as well will be a toughie down there.

'Then you look at the next four games with Blackburn, Cardiff, Hull and Nottingham Forest. That just shows what a great league this is.

'People will talk about a tough start to the season and it is, but the six teams we face first up will also be looking at their starts and thinking 'we've got Leeds'. It's my job to make it as difficult as possible for those teams.'

Warnock will be aiming to lead Leeds to a return to the Premier League for the first time since relegation in 2004 and in doing so he would break the record of most promotions by any manager in the Football League.

The Leeds boss is currently joint holder of the record with Graham Taylor and Dave Bassett, who have all enjoyed seven promotions apiece during their long managerial careers.
