LUFC Championship picture almost complete

The championship picture for next season is now almost complete and Leeds United fans can look forward to another trip to the seaside next season.

The tower and pleasure beach will be receiving another visit after Blackpool lost out to West Ham United in the championship play-off final at Wembley on Saturday.

Blackpool missed a host of glorious chances to win the game and they were made to pay late in the game when Ricardo Vaz Te scored the winner for West Ham in a 2-1 win.

Vaz Te is a player Leeds will be glad to see the back of having scored four times in two games for Barnsley against Leeds earlier in the season.

Another Yorkshire side will complete the championship next weekend when Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United meet at Wembley in the League One play-off final.

A win for Huddersfield would see a return to Elland Road next season of former boss Simon Grayson who took charge of the terriers just three weeks after his sacking at Leeds at the end of January.

His replacement at Leeds, Neil Warnock, will probably be hoping for a Sheffield United win, a club he supports and managed for eight years.

One thing for certain is, it is going to be a very much north of Watford based league next season.

Sixteen of the twenty-four clubs making up the championship next season are within two hours of Elland Road.

The fixtures for the 2012/13 season are to be released on Monday June 18th at 9am.

What will be the first fixture you look for when the fixtures are released on June 18th?

Lets hope we get Blackpool as a WEEKEND fixture away next season (you know - 3pm Saturday when football used to happen) and not an awkward midweek night game
