'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bates bites back

The Bates vs Chelsea saga continues with Ken Bates responding to accusations by the London club that he made racist comments regarding the religion of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

Bates commented in last nights match programme: 'Whereas previously there was anger at their behaviour it now has been replaced by ridicule at their pathetic attempt to deflect attention from the serious disciplinary charges that they are facing, with two more in the pipeline,

'Me - anti-Semitic? Thirty years ago when living in Ireland, I rang the leader of the local Jewish community and offered 5,000 in their hour of need.

'How much have the multi-millionaire directors and owners of Chelsea donated this time?

'In his continuing attempt to rewrite history Mr Buck speaks of me leaving Chelsea in a huff and my continuing vendetta. I have no vendetta.'

This debate will rage for a while, so watch this space, at least its better than Eastenders.
