Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says he knows what money he has to spend this summer as he looks to build a squad capable of mounting a promotion challenge next season.
Warnock has promised a major shake-up of the Elland Road squad since his arrival in February and he recently released seven players and placed a further six on the transfer list.
The experienced manager says he will be looking to spend the money available to him wisely from wages and fees received for those players leaving this summer.
Speaking on TEAMtalk.com, Warnock said, "I'm realistic about what we can afford.
'I know the players' wages that we're going to lose and what we can bring in. As long as I don't overspend that money I'm saving etc I don't see a problem.
'I'm not throwing money stupidly. I'm trying to get value for money and at the same time I'm trying to get the hunger and the drive and the sort of quality we need at Elland Road, which I think has been lacking.'
So far, Warnock has brought in defender Jason Pearce from Portsmouth for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £500,000.
There are also reports that he has held talks with Pearce`s teammate Joel Ward at Portsmouth as well as midfielder Paul Green who is a free agent this summer after turning down a new deal at Derby County.
Warnock is still waiting for answers from Aidy White, Ross McCormack and Robert Snodgrass who have all been offered new deals at the club.
White is out of contract this summer, whilst McCormack and Snodgrass still have a year remaining on their current deals.
