LUFC Leeds in Ward talks

Leeds United have reportedly held transfer talks with versatile Portsmouth player Joel Ward.

The 22 year old can play in defence or midfield and he is the target of a number of championship clubs, with Burnley, Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town also reported to be chasing Ward.

Ward is already believed to have held talks with Ipswich and it is reported that he has been in Leeds this week to have talks with the whites.

Clubs chasing Ward are expected to have to pay around £500,000 for his services, with the cash strapped south coast club desperate to bring in some revenue and also remove players of the clubs wage bill.

Leeds signed Ward`s teammate Jason Pearce last week in a similar deal and it is believed that Ward and Pearce are great mates away from football.

Ward has followed s similar path to Pearce having started at Bournemouth before moving along the south coast.

He has made 46 appearances in all competitions in each of the last two seasons for Portsmouth and he was on target in the 2-2 draw at Fratton Park when the two clubs met in the 2010/11 season.
