LUFC Warnock - Brown is good to have around

LUFC Warnock - Brown is good to have around

Leeds United boss Neil Warnock says Michael Brown is the type of player he likes to have around the club and he is someone he trusts.

Warnock took the option of offering Brown a one-year extension to the one-year deal he signed last summer.

The new deal offered to Brown is on extremely reduced wages to his first year at Elland Road but Warnock feels the offer he has made to Brown will keep him in the championship.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Warnock said, "He`s the type of person I like around the club.

"Since I came here he`s been my best player in most of the games in my eyes. I feel he`s got something to offer.

"I also think that with the other players I`m bringing in and the legs they`ve got, he might surprise us all and play more than we think.

"I`ve offered him quite a reduced wage from what he`s been on but it`s an offer that will stop him going down a level.

"At this stage of his career I don`t think Michael wants to think about doing that.

"The offer`s on a par with what I think he`ll get offered elsewhere and somebody like Michael is always good to have around, if you use him in the right way. I trust him totally."

Brown made 26 appearances in his first season at Elland Road but he struggled to hold down a regular place in the side until the Arrival of Warnock.

The 35 year old had previously worked with Warnock at Sheffield United and he became a regular in the Leeds midfield, making 11 starts under Warnock.

He missed just three games following the arrival of Warnock through suspension following his red card in the Easter Monday game against Derby County.
