'If It's Football, It's Vital'

LUFC Burton Albion friendly for Leeds

Leeds United will include a trip to the Pirelli Stadium to face Burton Albion has part of their build up to the new season.

Leeds will travel to the League Two side on Tuesday August 7th.

Warnock will be returning to a club he managed between 1981 and 1985 when they played at their old Eton Park ground and the game has been arranged with the Brewers chairman Ben Robinson who was at Burton when Warnock arrived..

Speaking in the Burton Mail, Robinson said, "It is the first time Leeds have agreed to send a team to Burton and it is fitting that Neil is their manager because of his past connection with the club.

"Until Nigel (Clough) came along and took us to another level, Neil was one of the most popular and successful managers in the club`s history.

"He has gone on the achieve great things in his career, but he has never lost touch with his roots.

"We have remained friends and he has continued to follow the fortunes of Burton Albion.

"It will be great to have the rare opportunity to play against him and a club like Leeds, who are still among the biggest in the country."

The whites have yet to announce their pre-season schedule but Leeds boss Neil Warnock has mentioned trips to Cornwall for five days as well as a game in Scandinavia.

Leeds have also said that they will face an unnamed Premier League side on Friday August 10th at Elland Road ahead of their first competitive game the following midweek when they will be in Carling Cup action.
