LUFC Warnock - Comedy defending cost us again

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock felt the side started as good as they have at Elland Road but it was once again comedy defending that proved their downfall.

Leicester left Elland Road with all three points to see Leeds finish the season in fourteenth place.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Warnock said, "I thought it was as good as we have started at home. I thought we played some good stuff and had some very good chances but once again, it is like comedy bandbox with the goal we conceded.

"To get the goal and then the opportunities we had in great positions. Clayton got in around the back and there were one or two others but we could not pick the pass and chose the wrong ball.

"It is sods law; they break in the 93rd minute and score."

Leeds started brightly. Robert Snodgrass forced Kasper Schmeichel into an early save and then Luciano Becchio wasted a great opportunity when he chipped the ball into Schmeichel`s hands with the goal at his mercy.

Snodgrass saw another good opportunity go over the bar and then Adam Clayton saw his shot blocked.

As usual though poor defending was the undoing of Leeds. Michael Brown skied and sliced an attempted clearance, Danny Pugh made a right hash of his attempt to clear and Martyn Waghorn was given time and space to put the visitors ahead.

Leeds brought themselves level with eight minutes remaining when Danny Webber prodded home from close range following good work from Snodgrass.

There was still time though for Leicester to win the game when Ben Marshall saw his shot take a huge deflection and go in off 17 year old Harry Panayiotou who was making his debut.
