LUFC Clayton ready to commit future to Leeds

Leeds United midfielder Adam Clayton says he wants to sort out a new deal at Elland Road and commit his future to the club before going away for his summer break.

The 23 year old is one of four players that Leeds boss Neil Warnock is keen to sort out new deals with and Clayton says he wants to sort out a new deal before going away for the summer.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Clayton said, "We have discussed it only briefly, about wanting to stay on at the club. Hopefully, we can sort it out before the summer.

"It is a massive club and if we can get the right sort of things in place then I don`t see why I wouldn`t sign a new deal."

Clayton believes that Warnock can build a squad capable of making a sustained challenge for the Premier League next season and Leeds is the right club to be with. "For me to leave now, when I think next season we have a massive chance of getting into the Premier League.

"I think to get into the Premier League with a team like Leeds and the fans base it has, is better than getting into the Premier League with a different team, so hopefully I can stay in his plans and we can get things sorted,"
added Clayton.

He had a slow start to his Leeds career when he initially signed on loan from Manchester City in August 2010.

Despite only making a couple of brief substitute appearances in his initial months loan, former Leeds boss Simon Grayson signed Clayton on a three-year deal.

He was to make only two more substitute appearances for Leeds before spending the majority of the season on loan with firstly Peterborough United and then MK Dons in League One.

Clayton impressed during pre-season with a number of combative performances and he made an instant impact when given his chance in the first team in the early months of the season with a number of man of the match performances.

He has gone on to make 45 appearances for Leeds this season and score six goals.

Clayton still has one year remaining on his current deal at Elland Road.

Are you hopeful that Clayton will sign a new deal at Elland Road?
