LUFC Bates - Bromby was part of plans next season

Leeds United chairman Ken Bates says Leigh Bromby was part of manager Neil Warnock`s plans for next season.

Warnock has promised 'major surgery` to the squad during the summer with many players not knowing whether they were part of the manager`s long-term future.

Bromby looks like facing up to twelve months on the sidelines after rupturing his patella tendon in the draw at Cardiff City on Saturday.

Bates says that Warnock had already told him that Bromby was part of his plans next season.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Bates said, "Neil was talking to me about Leigh before his injury and he said that he thought that he was going to be part of his team next year.

"A setback for Neil and a bigger setback for Leigh."

Bromby suffered the injury innocuously after going down after playing a simple ball to Tom Lees and the defender needed oxygen whilst on the pitch, as he was stretchered away.

The defender is to undergo surgery in the near future as he faces up to a long and steady recovery from the injury.
