LUFC McCormack - Brilliant to beat goal target

LUFC McCormack - Brilliant to beat goal target

Leeds United striker Ross McCormack says it has been brilliant to beat his target of fifteen league goals this season.

McCormack scored his seventeenth and eighteenth league goals of the season against Peterborough United last weekend and he now has nineteen in all competitions this season. Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, McCormack said, "The target was to score fifteen league goals this season. Once I hit that then everything else I got was a bonus."

The striker says a regular place in the side has made a huge difference this season. McCormack has made 47 appearances for Leeds this season, the most by any player in the squad. "I haven`t played regularly for the previous two seasons and to score eighteen league goals is brilliant,"added McCormack.

McCormack travels to his former club Cardiff City on Saturday where he enjoyed his best return in the championship. The Scottish international striker scored 21 championship goals for the bluebirds in the 2008/09 season.

He suffered a slow start to his Leeds career having joined from Cardiff in August 2010.

McCormack failed to score in his first 19 appearances before netting in the last two games of last season against Burnley and champions Queens Park Rangers.

He brought the form into this season and scored 10 times in his first 13 games of the season.

The goals have dried up slightly since the arrival of manager Neil Warnock in February but he has been playing a slightly wider role for Leeds.

McCormack will now hope his form will earn him a recall for the Scotland squad having been left out of the squad all season by Scotland manager Craig Levein.
