Leeds United midfielder Adam Clayton is already looking ahead to next season and he want to help the club reach the Premier League.
Clayton returned to the side on Tuesday night in the 1-0 defeat at Blackpool after missing the previous two games through suspension and he was delighted with the faith shown by the Leeds boss Neil Warnock to put him straight back into the side. Speaking on the Official website, Clayton said, "Neil Warnock is a quality manager and to put me back in the team after I was suspended shows the faith he has and I hope to be part of his team next season."
Clayton has enjoyed a successful breakthrough season in the Leeds side after a frustrating first twelve months at Elland Road.
The midfielder signed from Manchester City in August 2010 and made just four substitute appearances before spending the majority of the season on loan at Peterborough United and then MK Dons.
The 23 year old grasped his opportunity in pre-season with a number of combative displays and he hit the ground running in the championship with a number of man of the match performances in the early months of the season.
Once again, he will be looking to impress in pre-season in what is likely to be a new squad under Neil Warnock, who is intending on a major shake-up during the summer.
Clayton knows he will be back to square one and will have to impress the Leeds boss if he is to feature for the first team. "Last summer I had everything to prove to manager Simon Grayson to get into his team and everyone will have everything to prove to the gaffer in pre-season to get in his team.
"I hope I can get back in and help Leeds get into the Premier League,"
Leeds boss Neil Warnock has already expressed his desire to sit down with Clayton over the next few weeks to talk about a new deal with the club with the midfielder out of contract in the summer of 2013.
